The Crocodile Hunter

One day my son came home from school enthused about a program that one of his teachers had shown his class. It sounded quite interesting, especially since it seemed to get him interested in animals and biology type subjects. So he started watching it at home, and I decided to make it today’s FamSite.

The site is called The Crocodile Hunter, and is the online site about the Discovery Channel program of the same name. Here you meet Steve Irwin, director of the Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia. But to everyone who has seen the show or visited the site, he is the Crocodile Hunter. At this site you will see what exactly he does to deserve that title. There are chat rooms to meet other fans, audio and video clips all over the site, a crossword puzzle game, and most important, and a glossary of Australian lingo for newcomers. There is even a Croc Cam that lets you take a look at the Australia Zoo 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’re lucky, you will see them feeding the over 100 crocodiles that live there, or see Steve or his wife Terry (a fellow native Oregonian, I might add) giving a demonstration to visitors.

This is a wonderful site for a wonderful program. Steve does a terrific job of explaining the delicate balance between man and nature, and how fragile it is. He also has fun doing it. So pop on down to the land down under and spend some time with the Crocodile Hunter. Enjoy your visit here and with him.
